It is rightly said that small drops of water make up an ocean. But it seems the Indian government is unaware of this fact. All over India, women empowerment is the one most emphasised goals. In order to acheive such a huge goal, it is of utmost importance to focus on smaller issues.
Has anyone wondered why in application forms, the block for filling up our father's name is alloted before our mother's name? Why is it written he/she instead of she/he while referring to both genders together? Why at office queues the women's queue is shared by physically challenged, VIPs and senior citizens also? On the socio-cultural front, why a woman s exempted from fulfilling the last ites of any of her parents when she is devoid of a brother?
These questions are too small but hardhitting. But the current generation cannot be solely blamed for the present scenario. The year of 1947 did'nt fetch freedom for India, it brought freedom only for the men of India. Women were merely used in the freedom struggle for the benefit of he nation and when the struggle was over, women were again bolted in households. Sarojini Naidu and Indira Gandhi were undoubtedly the benefactors, but did anyone bother about the common women who were physically abused by Englishmen? Did anyone lend a ear to the groan of the women which was due to the British monopoly.
Had our previous generations not underestimated and criticised Indian women, our nation would not have been in dark till today.
