An Invitation to Join
Creative Science Club
A club by the name of
"Creative Science Club" has been formed in June, 2007 at 10, Rishabh
Vihar, Vikas Marg Extn., Delhi-110092, India. There is no fees or any
type of charges to join the club except lot of enthusiasm and keenness
and interest to work in a group. This club is for children only in the
age group of 8 – 16 years. The club is run by children and they decide
themselves about the major activities of the club. The children members
despite their school homework schedules take active part in the monthly
meetings of the club. They also made beautiful posters and paintings for
a recent major astronomy workshop organized by the club.
The
club has 12 active members and 55 other members (both boys and girls),
in age group of 8 to 13 years. Saloni Jain, aged 11 years,
studying in Vth Std. at Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, Lodhi Estate is the
chief coordinator of the club. The club functions without any
discrimination based on caste, creed, ideology, religion or language.

The club is affiliated to and accredited by Vigyan Prasar, Deptt. of
Science and Technology, Govt. of India. The purpose of the club is to
spread awareness about science among the children in a fun filled
manner.
On 17th Oct., 2007, a workshop cum presentation on Space and Astronomy
was organized by the club. The event was first and one of its kind in
Delhi and was attended by about 95 children and their parents. Shri.
Arvind C Ranade, Senior Scientist, Space Sciences, Vigyan Prasar
(Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India) and Sh. Nimish
Kapoor, Senior Scientific Officer held the workshop and gave a brilliant
presentation with laptop, projector and telescopes. The children were
shown Jupiter with its own 2 moons. The children and the parents enjoyed
the same since it was first time in their life that they had seen any
spectacular thing like this. Thereafter the gathering was shown the moon
from telescopes.
On 13th January 2008, a workshop cum presentation on First Aid for
children was organized by the club. Shri. Rajinder Saini, District
Training Officer First Aid, St. John Ambulance and Indian Red Cross
Society, District Branch Kurukshetra (Haryana) were requested to conduct
the workshop. Children were informed that by being little careful and
with presence of mind they can save any person’s life.
The main objective of the club is to spread science awareness
everywhere. There are about 7000 science clubs all over India and
“Creative Science Club” is one of the active clubs. In every meeting the
discussion is made regarding many problems on the Earth like Pollution,
Global Warming, Less of water etc. It is always emphasized that Science
should not be taken as a tough subject. It is so easy that one can learn
and talk about science even while playing.
