The Golden Quadrilateral, The Pride of India

by Parthasarathi

The golden quadrilateral of our country symbolizes the four metro cities of India: Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata. The four metros represent the rich cultural heritage of India. Here, I shall give you the brief and interesting information about the golden quadrilateral, the pride of India.

Delhi

Delhi is the capital of India. Uttar Pradesh and Haryana lie in both the sides of the city. Some of the greatest historical monuments of the world are located in this city. Some of those monuments are Akshardham Temple (the world’s largest temple, according to the Gunnies Book of World Record) Raj Ghat, Jama Masjid, Red Fort, Qutab Minar, Humayu’s Tomb, Jantar Mantar, Lotus Temple, India Gate etc. The Taj Mahal at Agra is also very near to this historic city of Delhi. I love Delhi for its colorful culture, dress, food, shopping, parks, big libraries, the best schools and universities.

Mumbai

Mumbai or Bombay is the capital of Maharashtra state. It is the biggest metropolis of our country. It is also the Business capital of India. The most attractive places of visit in Mumbai are Bollywood, Victoria Terminals, Bhuleshwars, Elephanta Caves, Essel World, Film City, Gateway of India, Juhu Beach, Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Hanging Gardens and such other.

Chennai

It was known as Madras for a long time. It is the capital of Tamil Nadu. This city was established by the Britishers. The important places of Chennai are Partharasathi Temple, Kapaleeswarar Temple, Marina Beach, Guindy National Park, Madras Music Academy. Carnatic music and Bharatanatyam dance are famous in the world which originate from Chennai.

Kolkata

It is the capital of West Bengal and it was formerly known as Calcutta. It is famous for its literature, music and food. The places of importance here are Birla Temple, Indian Botanical Gardens, Eden Garden, East Willam, Victoria Memorial, Nicco Park, Radrindra Sadan, Dakshineswar Kali Temple, Ramakrishna Temple, Kalighat etc.

As Indians, we should be proud of the golden quadrilateral as they are a mirror to the real India.
