An Orphan Girl

by Sonali Patnaik

I saw
A poor little girl
Crying as she was alone in the world
In a lonely street with puddles around.
No one thinks about her
As she is crying and begging all around
Her tears told me about her
And her humming expressed her sadness
In the notes of woe.
Oh! What Thy I tell about her?
I took her to a lonely place
She told about herself
Listening about the poor orphan
My heart became heavy.
Oh! What Thy I tell about her?
Beautiful blue eyes
Pink and white face
With dirty clothes
And her beauty is one among the millions
Her sweet voice made me glad.
But I had to get apart.
Oh! What Thy I tell about her?
But indeed it was a dream.
