• There are almost as many species of plants as there are of animals.

• Chimpanzees can learn and recognize around 100-200 words.

• If the starfish is cut into large pieces, the pieces will come together again. This sure is a great lesson in unity we humans can learn. Here even when geographical lines are cut the incisions remain forever.

• A blue whale can weigh up to 200 tonnes – almost twice as much as the largest dinosaur on record.

• Desert snails can doze about to 3-4 months at a stretch. They would give Kumbhakarna a run for his sleep!

Funda of Fundas

The Nile crocodile is one of the largest of all the world's crocodiles. At nearly six meters in length, and weighing 700 kg, it is a fearsome predator of both animals and people, but also a caring parent. The word 'crocodile' means 'lizard of the Nile'.
