• Sea otters are the only marine mammals without an insulating layer of blubber.

• A blue whale can spout water up to 9 meters (30 ft) high.

• Killer whales, the largest member of the dolphin family, sometimes jump onto land to drive seals and other animals into the water.

• Black-necked cobras can spit venom toward enemies up to 2.5m (8 ft) away.

Not only are they excellent swimmers, humpback whales are amazing acrobats and record-breaking singers!

These agile mammals can jump out of the water and twist their bodies round before falling back in, and male humpbacks have the longest and most complicated song in the animal kingdom. A single song can last for 30 minutes, and be repeated for hours on end.
