Swapna Mirashi's : Adventures in
Moneypur
Fun, Fantasy and Finance
by Ramendra Kumar
Just
imagine communicating core concepts of financial management and accounting to
kids and that too in a way that is interesting and absorbing. Swapna Mirashi has
picked up the gauntlet and gone about her task with a rare panache. And the best
part is that she has succeeded and how!
Adventures in Moneypur is the rollicking tale of Honey, a twelve year old kid
and Money, his bachha rupee. In this delightful book you will also meet Account,
the tiny ‘bookboy’, Infley Shun the rupee demon, Buyingitis the bug that
triggers off buying mania, Want-A-More, the monster dog, Moneypur monsters such
as GiantGreed, Egrow and Confurmus, and of course Guru Future Rishi, the seer
and sage par excellence.
The interaction between the two main characters with their tongue-in-cheek
repartees and the mutual animosity which later forms a lasting bond, add a
unique flavour to the book.
Through this modern fable the writer seeks to unravel the mysteries of financial
jargon and as the novel proceeds the young reader will find herself coming to
grip with concepts which hitherto were esoteric.
The illustrations by Sunil Pujari are very attractive and he deserves the
highest commendation for bringing to life each and every vital character and
situation.
The cover design is appealing and like all NavNeet publications the quality of
paper and printing is excellent.
My suggestion to every kid, as well as every adult is : ‘Pick up the book and
enjoy the ride through Moneypur. This is one trip you will never regret
embarking upon!’
Happy Journey!!
